EPICSERVICE SPOTLIGHTS - December 2019

EPICSERVICE SPOTLIGHTS - December 2019

Thank you for all that you do...keep up the good work!

Rupert Storer - Food & Beverage

Rupert offered to come in on his day off to ensure the front foyer was cleaned as it was impossible for them to do so in the fall clean. Taking ownership and following up! Thanks so much for going above and beyond Rupert!

Megan Vercoe - Product Sales & Services

Megan always comes to work with an amazing attitude and spirit. Guest experience is at an all time high when shes working! She is always prepared to help guest with anything as soon as she needs to. Weather its a problem with a pass or just general help to get through the gates, Megan is on it! Working with her makes the shift fly by.

Thalia Jones - Mountain Ops

Thalia has gone above and beyond in the CLC. In a new role, Thalia has already established a great work environment where other employees are specifically requesting to work in the CLC. Nothing fazes her and I can always rely on her. She demonstrates excellent attention to detail and genuinely cares about our other employees.

Susan Pullan - Human Resources

Susan has been invaluable in the role of Outreach Worker at WB Staff Housing.  The slow start to the season has resulted in challenges for our residents that have greatly impacted their mental health and we are so fortunate to have a position like Susan’s and someone like her in it to provide comprehensive support to those in need.  Susan provides a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for our employees to share their challenges with an empathetic listener who can offer meaningful reassurance and a wide range of care options. Susan’s patience and professionalism allow her to find ways of breaking down the barriers to accessing professional care for those who are reluctant to reach out for help.  Susan has done such an amazing job of reaching out to other divisions to provide talks about her services at team meetings to spread the word about her services and as a way to break down the stigma around discussing mental health. She facilitates fun and engaging events for our residents in an effort to build community and provide an opportunity for those who are in need to approach Susan in a more comfortable and less formal environment.  Susan continues to help those suffering with everything from homesickness to serious thoughts of suicide and she does so with a compassion that lets them know they are not alone and that professional help is available to them that could make a real difference.  We are extremely lucky to have Susan in this role and I believe she is incredibly deserving of an Epic Service Award.

Adam Smith (Marketing) & Jordan Macey-Smith (PSS)

I would like to recognize Adam Smith and Jordan Macey-Smith on their efforts in getting Never Ever day products ready to launch. When final approvals came through Friday afternoon for a Saturday morning product launch, Jordan and Adam stayed late to ensure the products we’re good to go and ready to sell in a way that would impact guest experience as little as possible. Thank you guys for you hard work!

Lauren Hetherington - Snow School

My 3 year old daughter started VKP this season and has never been in day care so is struggling to separate from me. Prior to the program starting Lauren, the program supervisor, was in constant communication with the parents to maximize the success of the program and allow me to prepare Madeleine for the season ahead. She sent out a questionnaire to best place the children in groups and sent the list of names including the instructor profiles so that we could prepare our children. Each and every time we sign in she personally greets Madeleine, checks in on her throughout the day and gives me honest feedback each afternoon together with a sticker for Madeleine to add to her helmet. Lauren's ability to connect with Madeleine in such a short space of time and put my mind at ease has been amazing. I can't thank her enough for the time and energy she puts into my child all while reassuring me. It may not seem like she is doing anything major but it's the little touches that are making all the difference to Madeleine's comfort and safety levels. She has provided additional staff to assist with the groups emotional needs, suggested effective strategies for managing the children to her team, invited Madeleine's comforter to join her on the snow, taken pictures of her for the weekly newsletter, personally taken Madeleine skiing and so much more. Lauren is doing an absolutely phenomenal job and deserve every bit of recognition for her hard work and dedication.

Ashleigh West - Retail Rental

Ashleigh has been championing both our safety mission and heading our Summit Green Team supporting the Zero Footprint. She has engaged all the staff and making sure the message is clear. She has been supporting SAFARI and also banned disposable coffee cups in the store to help with landfill waste. So excited for how this will look for our store moving forward.

Ed Gordon - Mountain Operations

Ed is our knight in shining armor (the big silver bus armor).  Ed is always here to help us when we need it most.  The other day when both whistler and blackcomb gondolas were down Ed went to the Village and picked up our 2 ski school classes who had been stuck on the Whistler Gondola and were running about an hour late at the end of the day.  Ed we can't thank you enough for always being willing to help us out when needed.  Thanks for making our hectic times so much easier!  Love the Blackcomb Kids Snow School :)

Melinda Macnamara - Retail Rental

Mindy is a great leader and an inspiring person to work with. Her dedication to her work is astounding as she was extremely accommodating with a last minute tour guide company to come into her rental shop for guide training on Schools On Snow. She came in on a Saturday (which was her day off), re-arranged her store to accommodate the group, and co-trained the guides on how the Schools On Snow program runs, and what is expected of them. Thank you Mindy!

Alicia Harris - PSS

Alicia was an incredible support on opening day for our Daylodge Guest Services location. She ensured all staff from front line to Management were kept informed and set up for success. She is always available to answer queries, handles guest complaints in a friendly and professional manner and makes sure our staff always feel supported. Thank you Alicia for being a huge asset to the team!
